Students will be introduced to a variety of hand and embroidery stitches, basic sewing and pattern making skills, and will learn how to control fabric on the sewing machine safely as they practice straight, curves, turning corners, and locking stitches. About Rebecca Cosenza: Rebecca is an interdisciplinary artist living and working in the Hudson Valley. A graduate of Simon's Rock, she has always maintained an interest in sewing and embroidery. At university, she expressed this interest through alternative printmaking under Valerie Fanarjian, appropriating sewing techniques for mark-making. As a graduate, she has returned to the roots of her interest: sewing projects with her mother. As a child, her mother hand-sewed her dresses, dance outfits, and halloween costumes.
Nowadays, the two work together to create beautifully inspired dresses and skirts. You can find Rebecca embroidering her second-hand finds with a coffee in hand and sharing her love for creating art that you wear in your everyday.
